Data stores and connectors

The Connectors page in Backoffice lets a workspace administrator choose, for the analytics warehouse, between a Noxtica-managed (shared platform warehouse) and Your own warehouse / provider credentials. This page explains what each choice means, what you see for each, how to tell which one is active, how to switch, and what Noxtica records.

Availability: depends on your plan, role and the modules enabled for your organisation.

What a store is

On the Connectors page, a store is a family of connectors that serve one purpose, for example the warehouse that holds your analytics data. Most families have one source: your own account with the service. The warehouse family also has a service that Noxtica operates, so for it you choose which one backs your workspace.

FamilyWhat you connectNoxtica-managed option
Log providersSentry, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch, Google Cloud Monitoring, Elastic, Bugsnag, Rollbar or Sumo Logic, through an inbound webhookNo. Always your own account.
Issue trackersJira or GitHubNo. Always your own account.
MessagingZendesk, the help deskNo. Always your own account.
Warehouse exportClickHouse, Elasticsearch, BigQuery or an object-storage bucketYes. This is the one family with a choice.

A family without a managed option says so on the page: “Uses your own account — Noxtica has no shared service for this.”

A store that has a managed option is always in one of two modes.

ModeMeaning
Noxtica-managedYour analytics data lives in the shared warehouse that Noxtica operates. There is nothing to set up and no credentials for you to manage. This is the default.
Your ownAt least one of your own warehouse connectors is enabled.

The card marked Active is the one in effect. Noxtica works the mode out from your own connectors: when none of your own warehouse connectors is enabled, the Noxtica-managed warehouse is active.

The Noxtica-managed warehouse

What it is

The Noxtica-managed warehouse is the shared platform warehouse that Noxtica operates for analytics data. It is the default for every workspace. You do not create it or connect it.

What you see

The Noxtica-managed card on Backoffice → Integrations & API → Connectors shows three facts and a link to this page.

FieldWhat it shows
RegionThe region class: European Union, United States or Türkiye. When no class applies it reads “Set by your workspace region”.
RetentionYour workspace’s own retention in days, followed by its class in brackets. Short means up to thirty days, standard means up to four hundred days, and extended means longer than that. When no figure is available the card reads “set by your data policy”.
Credentials“Managed by Noxtica”.

The card gives a class, not infrastructure details. It does not list the warehouse’s location, provider, names or addresses. What the card shows is what is configured for your workspace. It is not a residency commitment: your contract and the DPA are the source for commitments.

To read region and retention elsewhere in Backoffice, open Privacy & Legal → Data Locations. It is a read-only table of where each service stores your workspace’s data, and it includes a Warehouse analytics row. Your workspace data policy is under Privacy & Legal → Data Retention. See Data retention, raw IP storage and data locations.

What you do not manage

With the Noxtica-managed warehouse you do not create a connection, hold or rotate a key, or keep a credential safe. There is no connector for you to configure, so there is nothing to disable or remove. Noxtica holds the credentials of this service.

A connector type can be in use by the Noxtica-managed warehouse on your workspace. Its card then shows “Managed by Noxtica” and “Used by the Noxtica-managed warehouse on your workspace.”, and it has no Connect button. Connect one of the other types instead.

Your own warehouse and provider credentials

What it is

For the warehouse family you can connect your own ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, BigQuery or object-storage bucket with credentials from your own account. Each kind holds one connection per workspace. The other three families always work this way: you connect your own account, and Noxtica uses the credentials you give it.

How your credentials are handled

  • Credentials are stored encrypted. After you save one, Backoffice never shows it again. The connector shows only whether a credential is set, either “Credential set” or “No credential set”.
  • When you edit a connector, leave the credential field blank to keep the current value, or enter a new one to replace it.
  • A log provider connector gives you a webhook URL that includes a secret token. Backoffice shows it once, when the connector is created.
  • A saved connection stays until you remove it. Removing a connector cannot be undone.

The collector’s routine mirroring of workspace data to tenant connectors is retired. This page therefore does not describe a routine export of your analytics data into your own warehouse, and nothing here should be read as one.

Who can change it

Workspace administrators manage connectors. The server checks the permission to manage settings on every read and every change, and every change asks for a fresh step-up multi-factor check. See Roles and permissions.

Which one is active, and how to switch

Tell which one is active

Open Backoffice → Integrations & API → Connectors and look at the warehouse family. It shows two cards: Noxtica-managed (shared platform warehouse) and Your own warehouse / provider credentials. The card with the Active badge is the one in effect. The own card also says how many connections you have saved and how many are in use.

Selecting a card is not the same as making it active. The selection only decides what the page shows next. The badge follows your connectors, so it moves only when a connector is enabled or disabled.

Switch to your own warehouse

  1. Open Backoffice → Integrations & API → Connectors.
  2. In the warehouse family, choose Your own warehouse / provider credentials. The page shows the connector cards. Nothing changes yet: the page says the Noxtica-managed warehouse stays active until you connect and enable a connector.
  3. Connect a warehouse connector with credentials from your own account, and complete the multi-factor check when asked. A new connector is enabled when you save it.
  4. Confirm that the Active badge is now on the own card.

If you saved exactly one own connection earlier and none is in use, the own card offers Use my saved connection. It enables that connection again after the same multi-factor check.

Switch back to the Noxtica-managed warehouse

  1. While your own warehouse is active, choose the Noxtica-managed (shared platform warehouse) card.
  2. Read the confirmation, “Use the Noxtica-managed warehouse?”. It says your own warehouse connections stop being used, and that their saved details are kept so you can switch back at any time.
  3. Select Switch to Noxtica-managed and complete the multi-factor check.
  4. Confirm that the Active badge is back on the Noxtica-managed card.

Switching back disables your own warehouse connectors and keeps their saved details. Nothing is deleted. While the Noxtica-managed warehouse is active, the card notes that your saved connections are kept but not in use. To switch again, choose the own card, then use Use my saved connection or enable the connector you want. To delete a saved connection, remove the connector itself.

Because the mode follows your connectors, disabling or removing the last enabled warehouse connector also returns the workspace to the Noxtica-managed warehouse.

What is recorded

Every change is recorded in the audit log under Backoffice → Administration → Audit Log.

EntryWhen it is written
integration_createdYou connect a connector. It records the connector kind and its name, and whether a credential was set.
integration_updatedYou change a connector, including enabling or disabling it.
integration_deletedYou remove a connector.
connector_store_mode_changedThe active warehouse changes between Noxtica-managed and your own. It records the store, the previous mode, the new mode and what caused the change.

A mode entry is written only when the active warehouse really changes. A connector change that leaves it as it was still writes its own connector entry. No entry contains a credential or its encrypted form. How long entries are kept depends on your plan. See Audit log and data export.
